The Negro Ensemble company regrets to inform all members and friends that O.L. Duke, Artistic Director of the NEC, made his transition on Friday, September 10th, 2004.

A Memorial Service was held on September 15, 2004 at The Riverside Church.

Mr. Duke had an extensive background in theatre, film and television. He had worked with the likes of Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Al Pacino and many others. He was committed to the NEC's continuous vision of creating opportunities for people of color in all areas of the media, providing the knowledge and resources needed to succeed in the business. Many former students have gone on to work professionally in all areas.
